Preparing for Lincoln
What matters most at Lincoln.
- 01
SJT band carries up to 15 shortlisting points, as much as the UCAT total, so the SJT matters here.
- 02
The final score is the interview (out of 70) plus half of the academic score (out of 30), so academics still count after interview.
- 03
There are seven MMI stations, each scored across several domains.
Notes by Dr S Farooq, MBChB, BSc (Hons). Checked October 2026.
The interview
The Lincoln medicine interview.
MMI
Format
MMI (2027 entry).
Stations and timing
A circuit of seven MMI stations held in person on the Brayford Campus. Each station is scored across several domains, giving an interview score out of 70. The length of each station is not published (latest published guidance, undated).
In person or online
For 2027 entry: in person on the Brayford Pool campus.
Dates
Lincoln does not publish interview dates. Offers are made once all interviews have finished, and some applications may be held after interview while numbers are reviewed (latest published guidance, undated).
How it counts
Final score out of 100 = interview score (out of 70) plus half the Combined Academic Score (out of 30). Ties are broken on interview score, and offers are made after all interviews.

Typical A-level offer
AAA
Required subjects
Biology or Human Biology is required. General Studies, Critical Thinking, Global Perspectives, Citizenship and EPQ are not accepted. Predicted grades are not scored.
How the UCAT is used
Points-based shortlisting (latest published guidance, undated). Total UCAT score earns up to 15 points (above 2300 = 15, below 1580 = 0) and SJT band up to 15. These are added to GCSE points (if GCSEs are the latest qualification; otherwise the UCAT score is doubled) and contextual points for a Combined Academic Score out of 60, which is ranked for interview. Ties are broken on UCAT total.
Situational judgement (SJT)
Scored (latest published guidance, undated): Band 1 = 15, Band 2 = 10, Band 3 = 5. Band 4 means rejection at application (confirmed for 2027 entry).
Published UCAT scores
Lincoln does not publish a cut-off, as there is no fixed threshold and it varies each year.
GCSEs
At least six GCSEs at grade 7 or above, including Biology and Chemistry (or Double Science), plus grade 6 or above in English Language and Maths. Six GCSEs are scored (grades 9-4 score 5-0, maximum 30).
Other qualifications
IB 36 with Higher Level Biology at 6, plus Biology and Chemistry at 6 and English and Maths at 5 (or GCSE/MYP equivalents). Scottish: Advanced Higher Biology at A plus AAABB Highers including Biology (A), Chemistry, Maths and English. Only Canadian applicants are accepted from outside the UK.
Contextual offers
Contextual offer of AAB with an A in Biology. A points matrix (capped at 12) covers UCAT bursary, MEM2 quintile 1 or 2, Lincolnshire residence, care leavers, refugees and attendance at the Lincoln WP Summer School, and is added to the shortlisting score.
