Questions

Common questions.

What is an MMI?

A multiple mini interview is a circuit of short stations, each with its own scenario and interviewer. Stations usually last between five and ten minutes and can cover motivation, ethics, communication, teamwork and data or role-play tasks.

What is a panel interview?

A panel interview is a single, longer conversation with two or more interviewers, often exploring your motivation, experience and understanding of medicine in more depth. Oxford and Cambridge use academic, college-based interviews.

Do I prepare differently for each?

The core is the same: clear reasoning, reflection on your experience and good communication. MMIs reward resetting quickly between stations; panels reward sustaining an argument and handling follow-up questions.

Practise in the format your school uses.

Six complimentary timed mock MMIs, one minute to read and five to answer, marked against what assessors typically look for. For panel interviews, the Interview Handbook covers the common question types.
