| School | How the UCAT is used | Latest published figures | SJT |
|---|---|---|---|
| AberdeenAberdeen | No minimum cut-off (latest published, undated). For 2027 entry, a combined score is used for interview shortlisting: academic attainment or predictions 30% plus UCAT 20%, and the highest scorers are invited. The UCAT score is the total of Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Decision Making. | No cut-off is used. For 2026 entry, the lowest UCAT score invited to interview was 1700 (Scottish) and 1720 (Rest of UK). | The SJT is not part of the shortlisting score, which uses only the three cognitive subtests (latest published, undated). |
| Anglia RuskinChelmsford | For 2027 entry: no standard cut-off. Applicants who meet the academic requirements are ranked by UCAT score (including uplifts) and a set number are invited to interview. | 2026 entry data: the non-graduate main cut-off was 2010 (no uplift). For example, Essex applicants 1920 and Essex plus WAMS applicants 1830 (raw scores before uplift). | For 2027 entry: SJT Band 4 applicants are not invited to interview; guaranteed-interview applicants need Band 1-3. |
| AstonBirmingham | No published cut-off. Home applicants are ranked on academic qualifications plus total UCAT score (international applicants on total UCAT score only), and the top-ranked are invited to MMI (2026 entry process). | 2026 entry: the lowest UCAT score interviewed was 1560 overall (1580 for home applicants, 1560 for widening participation applicants, 1720 for international applicants), out of 2700. Aston does not set a minimum UCAT score. | There is no lower cut-off for the SJT (latest published, undated). |
| BangorBangor | No cut-off. Eligible applicants are ranked by UCAT score and the highest are invited to interview until places are filled (latest published guidance, undated). | The school does not publish typical UCAT scores. | The SJT is not currently considered (latest published guidance, undated). |
| Barts (Queen Mary)London | For 2027 entry, the first shortlist requires a UCAT score at or above the 4th decile. Interview selection then uses a weighted score of UCAT and UCAS Tariff, ranked against the cohort. UCAT may also be considered in final offer decisions. | 2026 cycle: minimum threshold 1761 (4th decile); Home interview cut-off 2030 and Overseas 2170. | For 2027 entry, Band 4 applicants are rejected, and the SJT is one of the factors that may be considered in post-interview offer decisions. |
| BirminghamBirmingham | No cut-off (latest published scoring, undated). Home applicants are ranked on an application score (maximum 10): academic/GCSE 45%, UCAT 40% and contextual 15%. The UCAT total of the three cognitive subtests is converted to points by national decile (10th decile = 4.0, down to 0 for the 1st). The interview threshold is set by ranking each year. | 2025-26 cycle (2026 entry): lowest UCAT total among home interview invitees was 1920 (standard) and 1710 (contextual), with medians of 2180 and 2060. These are three-subtest totals on the new UCAT scale (Abstract Reasoning was removed in 2025), so they are not comparable with older figures. International minimum was 2110. Because Birmingham uses decile-based points, the effective threshold also depends on GCSEs. | Not used for shortlisting. For 2027 entry, it is used at interview stage, weighted equally with each MMI station (Band 1 = full marks, Band 2 = two-thirds, Band 3 = one-third, Band 4 = zero). |
| Brighton and SussexBrighton | For 2027 entry, applicants who meet the academic requirements and have SJT Band 1-3 are ranked by UCAT score, and the top-ranked are invited to interview. No numeric cut-off is published. The personal statement is not used at any stage. | 2026 entry data (2025/26 cycle): home applicants were invited with a UCAT total above 1990 and SJT Band 1–3, or exactly 1990 with SJT Band 1; overseas applicants needed above 1980 with SJT Band 1–3. Home applicants eligible for an adjusted offer were invited regardless of total score if they held SJT Band 1–3. | For 2027 entry, Band 4 excludes an applicant; Band 1-3 is required to be ranked for interview (and for the Sussex guaranteed interview scheme). |
| BristolBristol | For 2027 entry, once academic minimums are met, UCAT is weighted 100% for interview selection. The three cognitive subtests are combined with equal weight and applicants are ranked; there is no fixed cut-off. | 2026 entry (2025 cycle): 2240 home and 2270 overseas (sum of the three cognitive subtests). | Not used in the combined score for selection (2027 entry). |
| BrunelLondon (Uxbridge) | For 2027 entry, home applicants are ranked on total UCAT (or GAMSAT) score, and the highest-ranked are invited to the virtual MMI. There is no fixed cut-off. | CambridgeCambridge | For 2027 entry, UCAT is required and must be sat by 24 September 2026. Colleges use the overall cognitive subtest score as part of selection for interview, and may also use it when making offers. There is no pass mark or minimum threshold. | No threshold is applied (2027 entry). | The SJT score will not be used for 2027 entry. |
| CardiffCardiff | For 2027 entry, a points system converts UCAT deciles to points (deciles 9-7 = 3, 6-4 = 2, 3-1 = 1) and combines them with GCSE points, with 1 extra point for further or higher education achievement. A UCAT cut-off is applied only if needed to shortlist about 1,000 applicants for interview, and it may differ between groups. The 2025-entry policy also allowed UCAT to separate applicants on the same score. There is no minimum score. | Cardiff's 2027-entry admissions information says the UCAT cut-off is not predetermined and is unrelated to the previous year's. A cut-off may be applied to shortlist when more applicants have strong academic scores than the roughly 1,000 interview places; it may differ between applicant groups. | The SJT band is not mentioned in Cardiff's 2027-entry admissions information. UCAT decile points (3 for deciles 7–9, 2 for 4–6, 1 for 1–3) are combined with GCSE points. |
| City St George'sLondon (Tooting) | For 2027 entry: a minimum of 500 in each section plus an overall cut-off set each year. UCAT is used to select for interview and may rank the post-interview waiting list. | Past cut-offs by cycle are published on the City St George's admissions statistics page. | For 2027 entry, SJT band will be considered in decision making. |
| DundeeDundee | For 2027 entry, UCAT is required in the year of application. There is no minimum cut-off score. | There is no cut-off (2027 entry). For 2023/24 entry (the latest published data), the lowest UCAT score among interviewees was 1900 (Home Scottish), 2150 (rest of UK) and 2270 (overseas), with averages of 2662, 2723 and 2690. These are on the pre-2025 scale, which included Abstract Reasoning, so they are not comparable with current scores. | SJT bands are not used in initial selection for interview (latest published, 2024 statistics page). |
| East Anglia (UEA)Norwich | For 2027 entry there is no cut-off. The overall UCAT score ranks applicants for interview. After interview, the overall UCAT score and the interview score are weighted equally to decide offers. | No cut-off is applied (2027 entry). | For 2027 entry, the SJT sub-score is included in the interview score. |
| Edge HillOrmskirk | Applicants who meet the academic criteria are ranked by total UCAT score. The threshold is set each year according to the number of interviews (admissions policy, last reviewed 2022). | Edge Hill does not publish past cut-offs. Applicants who meet the academic criteria are ranked by total UCAT score, and the interview threshold is set each year from the number of interviews planned and that cycle's scores. The threshold is extended for eligible widening participation applicants, and SJT Band 4 leads to automatic rejection (admissions policy, last reviewed 2022). | SJT Band 4 is automatically rejected (current course page). |
| EdinburghEdinburgh | The minimum total cut-off is 1850 for 2027 entry. Scores are ranked into deciles and converted to points, then added to the academic score for ranking. The score is used to rank applicants for interview. | No official cut-off is published (latest published guidance, undated). | SJT use is not described in the 2027 admissions policy. |
| GlasgowGlasgow | For 2027 entry, after academic, personal statement and reference screening, interviews are allocated by UCAT total score ranking against a threshold that varies by year and by applicant group (Scottish, rest of UK, international). | 2026 entry interview threshold: Scotland 1870, rest of UK 1990, international and EU 2150 (three-subtest UCAT, maximum 2700). 2027 thresholds will be published after the cycle ends in September 2027. | Not considered (2027 entry). |

International: minimum of 1950, ranked on UCAT total. | For 2027 entry, minimums are Home UCAT 1700 and International 1950. The home shortlisting threshold in 2025 was 15/25 on the combined UCAT and personal statement score; applicants on 14/25 were also invited if their Verbal Reasoning score was 600 or higher. | For 2027 entry, SJT Band 1-3 is required; Band 4 is automatically rejected. |
| Kent and MedwayCanterbury | For 2027 entry: a threshold screen (not a ranking): applicants above the threshold proceed to the contextualised, scored Stage 2b, and high scorers are not preferred over lower passing scorers. CASPer is also used for some groups (C, D and E). | 2025-26 cycle threshold (latest published): a UCAT total of 1,850 or above (47th centile), with SJT band 3 or above (band 2 for post-A level and graduate applicants). | LeedsLeeds | For 2027 entry, shortlisting only. The academic score (achieved and predicted grades) and UCAT are combined into a total that ranks applicants for interview, so a strong academic score can offset a weaker UCAT and the other way round. There is no fixed cut-off, and UCAT is not used in final offers. | Lowest UCAT totals shortlisted for 2026 entry (out of 2700): 1900 for UK applicants, 1810 for widening participation applicants and 2020 for international applicants. These are a guide only, because academic and UCAT scores are combined. | No SJT requirement is stated for 2027 entry; Leeds refers only to the overall UCAT score. |
| LeicesterLeicester | For 2027 entry, scoring is points-based. UCAT is 50% of the pre-interview score (up to 48 points; 2400 or above scores 48, with bands below that). About 425 are shortlisted each year, and there is no published cut-off. In the 2025 round, the UCAT score was then disclosed to colleges after interviews when finalising rankings. | No cut-off is published. 2025 round (2026 entry): mean UCAT 2377.5 for shortlisted applicants and 2407.1 for offer-holders. | Not used at shortlisting (latest published, undated). The 2025-round admissions report (2026 entry) states that colleges saw the UCAT score, including the SJT band, when revising post-interview rankings. |

Questions
Common questions.
What is the maximum UCAT score?
Since 2025 the UCAT has three scored subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning. Each is scored from 300 to 900, so totals run from 900 to 2700. The Situational Judgement Test is reported separately in Bands 1 to 4. Abstract Reasoning was removed in 2025.
Can I compare older cut-offs with this year’s?
Not directly. Before 2025 the test had four scored subtests, including Abstract Reasoning, with a maximum of 3600. Figures on the old scale are marked as such on each school’s guide.
Is a published cut-off the score I need?
No. A cut-off describes who was invited in one cycle. It moves each year with the number and strength of applicants, and many schools combine the UCAT with GCSEs, contextual data or the SJT, so a score above last year’s figure does not guarantee an interview.
How many people sat the UCAT in 2026?
In the 2026 UCAT test cycle (the test for 2027 entry), 42,359 tests were taken and the mean total was 1918, according to the official UCAT test statistics.
What should I do if my score is lower than I hoped?
Look for schools that rank on academic record or interview more heavily, or that use the UCAT as a threshold rather than a ranking. Each school guide explains exactly how its UCAT score is used.
